About My Teaching
Substantively, my teaching focuses on the domestic and international politics of Western democracies. But I also believe that a political science education is most useful when it gives students the ability to synthesize and convey information. For this reason, in all of my courses I spend a significant amount of time training students to write well using claims, reasons, and evidence.
As a scholar of polarization, I am also particularly interested in political pluralism and tolerance. From the first day of class, I always make it clear to my students that they will be exposed to new ideas, and be free to express their diverse points of view in a civil and respectful way.
